  1. I have done this many times before but forgot. 🙂 Instead of the orientation of the axis that you have in the center of the grid, mine is reversed. The only way to get the axis as you have is to make the front the back, etc. I also went into the preferences to change the axis orientation and it didn't work. How do I change to look like yours? TIA.

  2. Great job instructing Lars. First timer who wants to do more with my 3d printer. You are very clear and easy to understand. My brother is an expert Creo designer for Nasa for launchpad team. Out of my league, but fusion 360 brings it home to us beginner's a cad program for home use and your lessons certainly tops it off. Look forward to future videos in your portfolio.

  3. Thanks for showing the basics.. I am brand new to drawing and this helped me to start with Fusion 360.. I will go and try and do the box and be back for the next video. Thanks

  4. I know it's an old video, I downloaded the hobbiest version of Fusion 360. I was thinking I could deal with the interface differences, but I couldn't figure out the offset command. I've never worked with 3d modeling, but I kept thinking there should be an offset edge; I couldn't get offset plane or face to work like you did in video.

Can anyone recommend a current video that similar to this? I like the author presentation and style of teaching.

  5. Hi lars. I'm new to CAD and Fusion 360. i know this video was uploaded 5 years ago. My basic screen looks different. Where yours has a box in the upper left corner saying Model, mine says Design, and the drop down menu is different. Has the layout been redesigned or have you configured the screen differently? EDIT: I see that the design has been updated since this video. I will learn the basic stuff first on another video then come back here as I like your style and explanations of why. Just racing through builds doesnt teach you the why.

  6. Made more sense when I understood that every time you mentioned 'Organ' (I was thinking of a part of a larger assy), you actually meant to say 'Origin'… But an interesting and informative video, all the same

  7. Dude Talked for almost the entire video. I was sitting here falling asleep waiting for him to draw a freakin box, or a line, or something.. SHOW me how it works. Dont tell me. I got so bored after watching for a solid 7 minutes I was banging my head on the table and moved on. Im sure hes very knowledgeable over the software- but My Gawd dude, SHOW. You teach more by showing instead of talking.

  8. If i never used autocad and have to learn this within a 2 hour lecture to complete a project I have 1 week to work on is it even possible? Im not an engineering major just a 3d design class requires this for a project.

  10. Hi Lars your video tutorial is great you made it all look so easy until I tried it when I cant even snap to a mid point on a rectangle or even the corner then Fusion 360 is not for me.

  11. I'm new to fusion but have been using AutoCAD for 20 years (mainly site and architectural drawings). With fusion, if I have a part I'm not sure if I make it with all the angles and radius first, or if I make a shape that is close then cut and refine with later sketches.

  12. Could you do an updated version of this video with the latest edition of Fusion 360? Right out of the gate, Model is now Design, which threw me off of even being able to get started. From the other comments, there are lots of other changes that can be confusing for a beginner. Thanks for this video!

  13. This is really helpful. The only issue is, I'm using the 2021 version so a lot of commands are no longer in the same place. Either way, it's a great introduction.

Additional comment: I tried drawing a line from the bottom upwards and it won't let me. If I move up and to an angle, the line only moves along the base and there's no way I can change it to create an angle.

  14. You can do it all in one part in solidworks as well. Then use "save bodies" to save each body to its own part if you need to – and keep the bodies linked to the original file.

Great for changing one dimension of the model, while keeping everything in relation and scaling automatically – if you model correctly using relations.

  15. what the hell? i don't have model as an option. there's design, render, animation, manufacture or drawing. this is what i try to tell people when they tell me just watch a tutorial or something. this always happens and I'm beyond sick of it.
