  1. Holy crap, that tutorial is 8 years old, from 2012 ! I was just commenting on it and didn't realise that at all. Great tutorial as always, thank you very much ! 8 years after, would you change or add some information on this tutorial ?

  2. There's just one problem with this whole thing. On certain Windows operation systems, you can only record from one source at-a-time. For example, you might start recording your microphone, then hit "Go" on your video recorder, then it automatically switches the recording input to whatever your recording software is focusing on. It kinda sucks. 🙁

That aside, this is a very handy tutorial. I've done my fair share of Let's Plays and the like, and I think you taught even me a couple things I didn't know or wasn't sure about. I hope more people see this video and give it five stars a thumbs up. 🙂

  3. You just might have the solution to my current problem here sir. if i may ask will this work for 2019 audacity? one of my problem here too was the audio quality im making, loudness and how fine it is. It could be my voice but i think i have a pretty decent mic, with audio interface so if not so so good it wont be too bad. how i do it is actually record my voice in audacity apply some effects, then slap it on my editing software. i might be laugh at but it's ok. i need it to atleast be on par of the video quality i am making. This got long but thanks for reading.

  4. Wow! Really awesome! Not only have you shown me where to find all the software I needed, but you also showed me how to properly use it. Subscriber for life! Thank you so much for this video, it really did help me. 🙂

  5. This is great. Thank you for a simple easy to follow instruction. Do you have anything similar but how to add the small face video that most people use now. I have an elgato capture card that has this software to add face video but the delay is so bad nothing syncs? looks like your way of mixing is the easiest. something similar with facecam would be great!

  6. Thanks for making this. I used your techniques, plus a little troubleshooting, to upload my first gaming video to YouTube. I knew almost nothing when I started, and your guide saw me through it.

  7. hey i need some help in virtual dub when i put a video file in it it cuts the file down to only a few seconds long when the video is several minutes long how do i fix this?

  8. I know this is a few years old now, but still works well. couldn't get the game audio recorded separately, but otherwise nice software. Put up my first L.P. last night. Really appreciate this video

  9. Could i use this software to also overlay a video of myself playing the game? Im assuming i would just have to use a different editing software to do that then export the combined video to Virtual Dub. If so, do you have any suggestions for free software that can accomplish this?

  10. Awesome video man. The only thing that I would recommend you point out is that people might want to download the H264 codec, so that you can encode directly to it in Virtual Dub. Means much smaller files to upload for the same quality.

I have utilized your great example above and made myself a little video: https://youtu.be/CWCHLK5K8sM

    Thanks for the great tutorial.

  11. omg this is such a good video, but when i replay it the video recording is much faster than the video audio. i fixed it by going to virtualdub and going to video<frame rate<change so both audio and video times match. This worked but now everything is out of sync. Please can you help me with this. Thank you so much.

  12. good video man. This video is on point. The only difference i did was i used a different video capture program. Hypercam was giving me issues. every time i would record it would exit the game. and then when i would go back it would stop recording. A good suggestion is Loilo Game recorder. I use it and it works really well. The brightness and contrast will need adjusted a little. But again great video I learned alot.

  13. I made my first Let's Play video and everything worked out really well; thank you! However, for some reason my game audio didn't make any sound, even though HyperCam 2 recorded the screen and Audacity recorded my voice. I thought I followed all the instructions, but do you have any idea why the sound coming from my computer didn't record? Under the sound option of HyperCam 2, the 'record sound' button is checked, the number of channels is 2 – stereo, the sample size is 16 bit, and the sample rate is 44,100 samples per second. If I try to make a new track in audacity, it records my computer's sound now, but it didn't record it when I recorded my let's play video.

  14. Thank you for doing this. I searched for a while for a simple, concise tutorial like this, but couldn't find anything nearly as useful as this video.

  15. No matter how many times I go back and copy your settings/tutorial I cannot record game sound and I get a pretty big fps loss while recording. Machine is a pretty strong one too; i5 4570, 16g ddr 3, gtx 980. I THINK it's an audio setting somewhere cause it never records my pc just my mic, and I followed all instructions to add "stereo mix" as a recording device. If anyone seeis these comments and knows an answer I will send you hugs and cookies if you help me fix it. Ty kindly.

  16. Good video, cant rate as I cant get this to work just yet, ehre are my issues (I PMd you about these also) 1) hypercam didnt record audio, 2) broke the videos into smaller pieces, and when I clicked on them just to see if they recorded they seemed to playback really fast, about double speed. I think its a recording issue not playback as I checked the playback speed on vlc. 3) veedub would accept my wav file, said it didnt recognize it so I couldnt drag it to the program. Would you have some time to help a brand new lets player? if you do pm me, thanks so very much.
